Multiplication

We have officially begun our multiplication and division unit. The students have learned facts x0, x1, x2, x5, and x10. Now, they are being taught strategies to solve multiplication facts such as arrays, equal groups, skip counting, number lines, and repeated addition. They have also been exposed to multiplication and division fact families. At home, it will be helpful to connect to real world multiplication situations. For instance, if you are baking cookies you can arrange them into equal rows and columns (array) and ask your child to find the multiplication fact and product. Any hands on practice is helpful, especially if they can connect the content to their everyday lives! If they make real world connections at home encourage your child to share their connection with me at school.
